Pressure Equipment Engineer
Becht Engineering Co., Inc. provides expert consulting services to oil refineries and chemical plants, worldwide. We are seeking bright and motivated engineers to join our operations in Baytown, TX and Liberty Corner, NJ. The successful candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering and have at least five years of experience in the design and analysis, including fitness for services assessments, of pressure vessels and piping. Finite element analysis experience would be a plus but is not required.
The software Becht Engineering uses for this work includes PVElite, Compress, CAESAR II, FEPipe, Abaqus, CosmosWorks, Bos Fluids as well as a variety of other special purpose and in house programs for fracture mechanics, fitness for service and other applications. Candidates should indicate familiarity with any of these software packages.
The candidate should have good written and verbal communication skills for working with all levels of client organizations. The job responsibilities will include field trouble shooting of pressure equipment and addressing a wide variety of complex problems our clients look to Becht Engineering to solve. The ability to document technical recommendations in concise reports will be an important consideration in assessing the candidate’s qualifications for the job.

Manager – Project Services (Engineering & Business) – Canada
On behalf of our Client, a major oil company, Becht Engineering is seeking a highly seasoned and experienced Project Services Manager to support a large capital project, already underway. The contract assignment will be for one year or more in Ft. McMurray, Alberta, Canada. The selected candidate will have demonstrated many similar efforts on capital projects ranging from $500 Million to $1 Billion which were deemed successful in terms of safety, budget, schedule, and quality.
Role

Ensures capital project receives needed services to achieve project goals related to engineering support, material management, quality assurance, project accounting, contract management, temporary facility needs, invoice payment and site interface management.

Ensures adherence to Client’s risk management procedures and closure of open items.

Supports management of change and lessons learned processes.

Ensures project is executed in accordance with Company’s expectations and procedures.

As a contract member of our Client’s Team, reports directly to Client’s Director of Projects at a major Canadian energy company.
Responsibilities
-
Accountable for the success of Project’s Engineering, Quality Assurance, Accounting, Procurement and Contracting, Materials Management, and Filing / Information Retrieval Systems.
-
Ensure that the project is compliant with all laws and regulations, as well as all Client procedures, including standards of business conduct. Responsible for guiding and training Project Team in audit compliance.

Provide interface coordination and manage interfaces on the project with non-project organizations (e.g., various day-to-day interfaces with operation organizations, emergency response and firefighting, camp/craft housing, other external organizations, and key vendors).

Responsible for engineering interface, ensuring timely response to all requests for information, field action memos, “as built” process, etc.

Provide guidance concerning project change control procedures, contract change procedures and information filing and retrieval systems

Ensure adherence to risk assessment protocols and close out of execution risk assessment items
-
Single point of contact for coordination and scheduling of vendors and suppliers for pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up support and services.

Coordinate cold eye and independent project reviews, including post audit activities with respect to engineering and business services functions. Ensure collection, analysis and reporting of lessons learned data to enable effective continuous improvement

Represent project at major works steering committee meetings and site support services steering committee meetings. Fill in for the Execution Manager at operations meetings, as requested.

Facilitate planning and logistics requirements for project temporary facilities.

Responsible for the development of procedures and then lead project closeout, final report, and documentation of lessons learned.

Assure final handover of facilities to the base plant in concert with the commissioning and start-up organization.

Responsible for the guidance of the Project team in management of all proprietary information.

Serve as a member of the safety leadership committee
Required Experience and Skills:
-
Engineer with minimum four-year degree and 20 years experience in major EPCM (Engineering Procurement Construction and Management) project development, planning and execution with a major oil company, with at least 15 years in project engineering management and business services management roles to understand working relationships and organization.

Familiarity with major oil company management programs, practices and procedures, with strong knowledge and experience for establishing and executing such programs.

Generally regarded as Subject Matter Expert in:
+ Engineering practices, work flow processes and design tools.
+ Quality assurance.
+ Contract, procurement and materials management processes.
+ Project accounting and invoice payments
+ Interface coordination and management.
+ Temporary facility needs and management.
+ Electronic filing / document retrieval systems, and project close-out and final
documentation.
